A Whale Baby Shower

Having a party? Need some affordable, easy centerpieces or party favors? Well I think I might have some ideas for you.  My cousin asked me to create centerpieces and guest favors for her daughter's baby shower. Below is what I came up with. Hope you enjoy!

My inspiration started with this gift bag

For the centerpiece for the dessert table I cut the bag to fit on a foam board and added some glitter.

I took the gift tag and copied it onto stock paper and used a 2'punch used a rubber stamp for the favors

Centerpiece #1

I purchased the stuffed whale from the dollar section at Targets, the foam square from the Dollar store.  The sign was made out a wood plaque from the craft store.

Centerpiece #2

I purchased the vase and clear water beads from the Dollar store, the flowers I purchased from a fabric store.

Favors

I bought baby snack cups from the Dollar store.  I placed label on top and added gold fish for the guest to enjoy on their way home.

 The Gift Table

I  placed a square paper lantern on top of a candle stick and added a whale label.

The Dessert Table
On the table was cookies, brownies, rice krispie treats, chocolate covered oreos & pretzels, blue raspberry twizzlers and cookie's and cream hershey kisses

Avengers Dessert Table

I get so excited when the kids call and ask if I can do a candy/dessert table for their parties. So when Hakan called and asked if I could do a candy/dessert table for his 11th birthday.  I had a lot of fun with this theme and of course Hakan loved it. Happy Birthday Hakan!!  Look at my back drop and the table sign, you ask what are they made with.  Tablecloth and a napkin. Very easy right?

Enjoy

Let’s Make Chocolate Covered Oreos

I know you have seen the decorated oreos on dessert buffets and you have admire them, just as I do. My family and friends request them all the time and they are real easy to make.  Let me show you how I make chocolate covered oreos.

I use the following things.  candy wafers, cookie mold and oreo cookies

Melt the candy wafers according to the directions on the back of package.  I used a double boiler and add a teaspoon of shorting,  The shorting makes the candy wafers very smooth

Place about 2 spoonful of the melted chocolate into the cookie mold.  Tap the mold on the counter so that chocolate evens out and take out bubbles

Place the oreo inside the mold, press down so that the candy  melt covers the oreo, place a another spoonful on top. spreed melt with a spatula and wipe off excess candy melt, so that top looks smooth..

Place mold in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.

Take mold out refrigerator and pop cookies out of the mold.  Cut off excess candy melt around the edges. Look how perfect they come out.  Nice!

Let's Decorate

I used Sugar Sheets that I purchased from A.C. Moores, but I have also seen them at Walmart.  They come in all colors and patterns and they are real easy to use.  I used a small circle cookie cutter to make the perfect circle. Took some of the melted candy and dabbed a little on top of oreo and place my perfectly cut circle on top.

I used candy decorated bags and melted candy melts and just drizzled the candy over the oreos

Added some crushed candy canes to these.

And once  you display them, they look fantastic and your family and friends will love them too.

Well what did you think?  Easy, right?  Next on my list is to try the chocolate transfer sheets.  Well, I hope I have inspired you to try and make them also.

Enjoy

Pink and Purple Baby Shower

My cousin from ATL was hosting a baby shower for her BFF in Boston. She asked if I could do a dessert table. She requested a teddy bear theme using purple and pink colors. She left the candy and dessert choices up to me. On the table were: Chocolate covered oreos, chocolate covered pretzels , rice krispie treats, brownies, éclairs, popcorn, cotton candy, teddy grahams, candy sticks, bubble gum, lollipops, marshmallow pops, mini hershey and nestle candy bars. I was so happy to help Nat and I was even happier that Yolanda McCollum Photography was there to take professional pictures.  I made the chocolate covered oreos and pretzels, believe me they are real easy to make.  I hope you enjoy =)
